FAQs

Can I practice yoga while pregnant?

Yes! Yoga offers a mind-body awareness that supports the body during pregnancy and helps prepare you mentally and physically for child birth. Our weekly prenatal yoga class offers a supportive environment for expectant moms to practice yoga in a community setting. Hatha (including Lunch Hour, Healthy Hour, and TGIF), Gentle, and Restorative yoga are also great options during pregnancy!

Please be sure to inform your instructor that you are pregnant and consult with your physician or health care provider before beginning or continuing a yoga practice once you know you are pregnant.

How should I modify my practice during pregnancy?

Pregnant women in general should avoid supine (laid back) positions, intense heat, strong abdominal work, deep twists, and any postures that place pressure on the abdomen or uterus. There are more modifications specific to each trimester, so please be informed and listen to your body.

Please be sure to inform your instructor that you are pregnant and consult with your physician or health care provider before beginning or continuing a yoga practice once you know you are pregnant.
